Sinharaja Natural Forest Reserve
It is a national park. Located in the southwestern wet zone, it was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988.
It is a habit at for many birds, insects, fish, reptiles, and quadruped animals, making it an important natural resource. The environment is rich in aquatic resources and is a sanctuary for animals. It supports the tourism industry and has many economic benefits.
Currently, the forest is facing many threats. Deforestation, animal poaching, damage to the forest due to tourism, and sand mining are causing the forest to gradually disappear. To mitigate these threats, measures such as enforcing existing laws, educating people, and encouraging future generations to protect the forest can be taken.
Protecting nature is everyone's responsibility .
